Be honest in a nice way. It hurts more when you are dishonest and they find out about it, or you don't give an answer and they are left guessing or questioning themselves about their character.

Tell him that he smells bad and needs to shower more often. Also, be sure to slap him across the face when you do it so he is sure to get the message. Other than that, you can pretty much say what you want.
